The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) recently launched a new era of world football development with the first IFAF Bi-annual Technical Conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

Earlier this year, IFAF received a massive boost for global football development with the $2m NFL Youth Football Fund grant. As part of the development initiatives, IFAF is seeking to draw together all the football playing nations of the world to discuss challenges and seek common solutions.

Representing the UK at the conference was BAFCA President and BAFA Director, Jim Messenger. He said, "IFAF hosted a very well organised conference with excellent presentations and discussions on the issue facing the development of amateur American football around the world. It was great to meet people from so many nations and share ideas on how we can work together to make the game grow."

Jim Continued, "In discussions with so many nations, it was gratifying to see that the development plans put in place by BAFA over the last two years are amongst the best. We can still learn a lot from others but we were certainly able to make a strong contribution to the discussions based on our own knowledge and experience. On a more personal level, it was also gratifying to see that many nations still look in envy at GB for having such a well established coaching structure."

IFAF will be staging its World Congress meeting in Seville, Spain during July 2008. The discussions and findings from Stockholm will provide much of the input for this meeting.
