The BAFA are delighted to confirm that BAFA WSP Manager, Ken Walters, and BAFRA Director of Recruitment, Alun Price, made a presentation to the Warwickshire Referees Society - the results of which have now been communicated back to BAFRA for review.

Speaking about the evening, BAFA WSP Manager, Ken Walters, commented, "The purpose of the pilot activity was to establish a method of communicating our offer to RFU referees in a manner that will achieve our objectives - namely, recruit new officiating blood into our sport for the summer season". Ken added, "The meeting provided valuable feedback that BAFA and BAFRA will now consider prior to a proposed rollout to other societies later this year to ensure a successful outcome".

Feedback provided by the Society included the following topics:
  • Consideration for acquired previous learning for established RFU officials
  • Provision or loan of officiating equipment during training
  • Reduced costs of officiating equipment
  • Bespoke fast-track membership application mechanisms for RFU officials
  • Clarification of geographical challenges of officiating

The BAFA will continue to work with the RFU to refine the offer of officiating American Football prior to rollout to the remaining societies.
