The long road to being crowned inaugural BUAFL National Champions starts this weekend as the British Universities American Football League kicks-off.

Interim Chief Executive of the BUAFL, Andy Fuller, spoke of his excitement at the prospect of the weekend's matches

"I am looking forward to an exciting season of university football. If the quality of football on the pitch reflects the dedication of our team's management committees and the application of coaches and athletes in training this pre-season - then standards will undoubtedly be high."

BAFA Chairman, Gary Marshall, said, “A great many hours have been and will continue to be invested in BUAFL. It is time to say a few words of thanks to Andy Fuller and his team, Wayne Hill, Martin Boffey, Tom Evans, Dr. Elesa Argent and Matt Excell - as well the BAFA personnel, Glen Schild, Jim Messenger, Jim Briggs, Wendy Bamford, Julia Chatwood and Ken Walters who have supported greatly in this endeavour. Let the competition commence!”

BAFA Whole Sport Plan Manager, Ken Walters, added "All at BAFA wish the BUAFL well in their inaugural season. I have every confidence the league will be great success and deliver some exciting football”.

Eighteen BUAFL fixtures will take place this coming weekend across the length and breadth of Great Britain.
