BAFA Statement on GB Lions

At the BAFA meeting on Saturday 9th July the BAFA Board were brought up to date with the GB Lions Seniors preparations for the forthcoming EFAF ‘A’ group Championship in Malmo, Sweden.

The Board want to place on public record their thanks to the Coaches, players and backroom staff of the Lions as they prepare for the biggest game in recent GB Senior Football history, namely the semi-final game against current EFAF Champions, Germany.

The Team have been preparing for this since coming back victorious from Amiens last summer and whilst knowing that this is going to be a much stiffer test than the ‘B’ group, are nevertheless going into the game fully determined to give a good account of themselves.

Final preparations and fine tuning will take place at Crystal Palace during the week of 25th July. This will be the culmination of many months of planning and hard work by all those connected with the squad. The team fly out to Sweden on the Wednesday (27th) . The game against Germany is on the Thursady with the finals being played two days later on the Saturday. The squad fly home the following day, Sunday 31st.

BAFA Chairman, Gary Marshall, said, ‘ BAFA, and I’m sure all of Britball, is right behind Coach Ayub and the squad and we wish them well for the forthcoming games in Malmo. All concerned have put in a great deal of time and effort in the attempt to step-up to the next level. This is Britball’s chance to show that we can mix it with the big boys and I am sure that all concerned with the Lions will be fully prepared and ready to give it their best shot’.
