As the Great Britain teams take on Europe this summer you can follow their progress via Facebook and Twitter.

In response to the demand for information on how the national teams are progressing in the preparations for and during, their respective international competitions this summer two new sites have been created by followers of the national teams.

www.twitter.com/gblions will provide followers with short headlines in the build up to and during the tournaments with plans to include regular updates during the games.

www.facebook.com/gblions will provide the platform for a community to develop to support and promote the activities of the Lions teams both in the short term and over a longer period.

A BAFA spokesperson welcomed the creation of the sites We would like to thank people for taking the time to create these sites. Social networking offers a great opportunity to engage people in different aspects of football.

BAFA has no doubt that both the facebook and twitter sites will be of great value this summer and over time we can evolve the way we use these to communicate with people to promote the national teams.

In addition to this the Edinburgh Wolves are supporting a fundraising drive using the JustGiving website.

The Just Giving page has been created by GB Lions Offensive Line Coach Don Edmonston, also head coach of The Edinburgh Wolves. Don commented: I feel privileged to be able to contribute as a coach now and bring my previous experience as a former European Gold medalist back in 1991 to the table

The Edinburgh Wolves were able to set up a Just Giving page on behalf of the GB Lions thanks to their Community Amateur Sports Club status, but unfortunately will be unable to claim Gift Aid for any donations made. If making a donation, in order to make sure it’s correctly processed, please select ‘I am not a UK taxpayer’ in this instance.

Notes:
  • The views expressed by people on social networking sites are not necessarily those of the National Governing Body
  • The official BAFA twitter page is www.twitter.com/bafaofficial
  • For the JustGiving activity, the aims of the fundraising mean that the Gift Aid cannot be claimed. If you intend to pledge please do not select an option which confers Gift Aid.
