BAFCA 2006 Convention

Thanks to the support of BAFA the flagship event of the British American Football Coaches has this year been extended to a three-day event starting on Friday 15th and running right through to Sunday 17th September

The event will feature:

 Clinics by great guest speakers
The extensive NFL Coaching Video Library
BAFCA Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications
BAFCA Coach of the Year Awards Function

Trade stands for equipment, uniforms and coaching books

Heading the speaker list is

Coach Jim Criner

former Head Coach of the Scottish Claymores.

Coach Criner's coaching influence reaches deep into the NFL. Among the coaches he has helped develop and influence are Dave Campo, former Head Coach with the Dallas Cowboys, Mike Solari offensive co-ordinator with Kansas City Chiefs, Rod Dowhower, former head coach with Baltimore Colts, Carolina Panthers Head Coach John Fox and our own BAFCA Vice-President Steve McCusker.

Coach David Needs Snr

Coach Needs has coached college football at West Chester University and Wesley College. He has been the Head High School Football Coach at Mount Pleasant High School and Caravel Academy. His teams made several State Tournament appearances and won the state championship in 1981.

Coach Needs coached at the Summer Camps at Carson-Newman College in 02 and 03, and coached on the Semi Pro New Castle Saints team that gave up fewer than 60 points in the last two seasons. The Saints had a record of 20-3 in his two seasons with them.

Under Coach Needs leadership whilst Head Football Coach at the Caravel Academy, they averaged over 400 hundred yards per game rushing (in a 48 minute football game).

09.30 - 16.30 - BAFCA Level 1 Qualification course.

19.30 - 22.00 – Guest speaker clinics

 Saturday 16th September

8.00 - 10.30 - BAFCA Level 2 Qualification courses - Part One. Course types awaiting confirmation from presenters – These will be publicised within the next week. Course fee is £15 and BAFCA membership is required. Attendance to both days will be required.

NB. Attendees must be level 1 qualified. Places at all Level 2 clinics will be limited to 20. Booking and payment in advance will be necessary to guarantee a place. Priority will be given to coaches who have not yet taken level 2. Coaches taking the Level 1 on the Friday may only sit Level 2 at the discretion of the Director of Education).

13.30 – 15.00 – BAFCA AGM

15.00 – 18.30 – Guest Speakers + NFL Library

20.00 – 24.00 – BAFCA Coach of the Year Awards Function (members only)

10:30 – 12.30 – Guest Speakers

13.30 – 16.30 – Guest Speakers + NFL Library

16.30 Final address and Finish

 

Accommodation is available through BAFCA. Cost is £20 per night (bed only in student, self-catering apartments with shared facilities) Available from Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th (possibly Sunday evening if required).

Due to the high demand and limited spaces it is critical that you book accommodation in advance.
