Recent external developments have led the Board of Directors to make a decision to suspend the planned increase in the BAFA fee with immediate effect. This means that the individual fee will remain at £20 for the 2009-2010 BAFA year which commences on 1 April 2009. The fee for those under the age of 18 as at 1 April 2023 will also stay at the current level of £10.

BAFA Chairman, Gary Marshall said "The British American Football Association has made massive strides over the last few years, and in recent weeks we have concluded that whilst an increase in the BAFA fee may be required, we must await the outcomes of initiatives that may bear fruits for our members”. Gary concluded, “Whilst BAFA is in agreement that there may be increases in the BAFA fee in future years, the recent increase will be suspended for 2009/2010 season”.
