An updated version of the BAFA Disciplinary Code comes into effect on 1st October 2008. The new Code is the third version of what was originally introduced in 1990.

The update follows a long period of consultation across the sport and reflects developments both within British American football and also disciplinary practice in other sports such as soccer, rugby union and volleyball.

BAFRA President Jim Briggs, who led the revision process on behalf of the BAFA Board, hailed the new Code. "As a sport, we are fortunate to have had few serious disciplinary incidents in recent years, but the new Code gives us the ability to deal effectively with anything that might crop up in the future."

The 2008 version of the Code retains the central role of BAFA's member organisations in disciplining their members, with BAFA itself only dealing with unusual or cross-sport cases. There are also changes to the processes of appeal that are available to participants.

The full text of the Disciplinary Code can be found (temporarily until the BAFA website is upgraded) at https://www.bafra.org/rulesctee/hdbk/index.htm
